Midjourney is very easy to use like ChatGPT because you don’t need to install any program or complicated libraries. You can use midjourney without signing up again if you already have a Discord account.
This is possible because Midjourney is accessed entirely through Discord, a free online text and voice chat service that lets many users talk together.
Steps to Use Midjourney
1. Join the discord
Ready to join the Midjourney adventure? Head over to Midjourney.com and select ‘Join the Beta’ or hop straight to the Discord server.
Just remember, you’ll need to have a Discord login to board this ride!
2. Find Newbies Channel
On the Midjourney Official Server:
1. Look for the “newbies-#” channel on the left sidebar and select it.
On other servers
1. Find and invite the Midjourney Bot to the server.
2. Follow instructions on how to use the Bot on your server to generate images.
3. How to use the Imagine Command
- To interact with the Midjourney Bot on Discord, use a command.
- Commands can help you create images, change default settings, monitor user info, and perform other tasks.
- This command generates a unique image based on a short text description called a Prompt.
- Type the “/imagine” command in the chat or select it from the slash commands pop-up.
- In the “prompt” field, describe the image you want to create.
- Press the “return” key to send your message and generate the image.
4. Process the Job
Just hold on for a moment while Midjourney AI creates some pictures based on what you told it. It usually takes about a minute for the Midjourney Bot to make four choices for you to choose from.
When you start using the Midjourney Bot, you can try it out for free and do around 25 things with it.
Here “Job” means anything you do with the Bot, like using the /imagine command to make a grid of pictures, improve the quality of pictures, or make different versions. If you want to know how much free trial time you have left, use the /info command to see the Fast Time Remaining.
5. Upscale or Create Variations

If you click on the U buttons, the image you picked will get bigger and have more details.
V1 V2 V3 V4
When you click on the V buttons, you’ll get some slightly different versions of the picture you chose. Each variation will show you a new grid of pictures that look like the original one in style and layout.

The 🔄 (re-roll) button lets you try a Job again. If you click it, you’ll get a new grid of pictures based on the original thing you asked for.
Note: If you give the Midjourney AI a really detailed description, the pictures it makes will be better. Now that you have this guide, you can begin making art and pictures using Midjourney AI on Discord.
6. Rate Images on Discord
Once you make the picture bigger, a fresh group of choices will appear.

Make Variations: It makes a slightly different version of the enlarged picture and produces a fresh set of four choices.
Beta/Light Upscale Redo: redo the upscale using a different upscaler model.
Web: Open the image in your gallery on Midjourney.com
To rate an upscaled image on the Midjourney website or in Discord, just click on a smiley button. If you’re among the top 1000 image raters each day, you’ll get an hour of free Fast Mode time.
You can rate your own work or the work of others based on your personal style and opinion. If you love the look, effort, colors, concept, or theme of an image, you can give it a 😍!
7. Save the Image
To download an image, click on it to open it to full size. Then, if you’re on a computer, right-click and choose Save image. If you’re on a mobile device, long tap the image and tap the download icon in the top right corner.
You can view all images right away on midjourney.com/app. Just sign in with Discord to see them.

How does midjourney work?
Midjourney uses a Machine Learning algorithm to process your text description. Some people think that it might be using a similar technology as Stable Diffusion, which is a type of latent diffusion model.
After analyzing your input, Midjourney chooses the image most closely matches your description. Then, it applies the art style or styles you’ve chosen, and finally combines them together.
